Pastor BJ Sebastian

Pastor BJ Sebastian gave a talk on how Christian Businessmen should do business, the biblical way. It was a very interesting event. But I was somehow disappointed on the low turn-out of attendees (50+ out of a church of 4,000). Considering the many high profile businessmen we have (Hoteliers, Real Estate Developers, Factory Owners…). At first I blamed it at what I thought was poor promotions (of which I was a part of – the Events Team).

During the Question and Answer portion after one of the segments, an attendee gave the question – “How should a Christian Businessman cope up with corruption and red tape – doing business in the Philippines is hard enough.” Pastor BJ Sebastian was quick to respond by reminding us that we are and should be Christians above all else and that doing business the way that God would want us to – will cost us:  it might cost us a business deal, it might cost us profits, it might cost us wasted time, it might cost us a good location, it might cost us business acquaintances and relationships… The bottom line is that it WILL cost us. Now the big question is – are we willing to pay the price?

We are Christians above being businessmen and not the other way around. A lot of Christian businessmen are afraid and hesitant to do Business by the Book because it will cost them and that they aren’t willing to pay the price.

I was able to get a copy of Pastor BJ Sebastian’s Keynote Presentation, converted it to PDF files which you can download and view:
